Yasya Murashko (@anteikovich) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Yasya is an illustrator from Russia and her ability to draw and color both in traditional ways and digital ones is unmatched. I think her style would be best suited on book’s covers or illustrations cause I see the genuine traits and the amazing expressivity coming out of her pieces. It’s not strange she does in fact draw a lot of fanarts and illustrations inspired by books and some of those are among my favorites for sure.
She does like to change the style and the medium quite often and this leads to a super wide variety of art on her feed, but one thing that stays no matter what is the color palette avoiding bright and unnatural colors to lean towards dim tones a lot more. I love the results and the look the whole profile gets because of this.
The use of this dark orange in the first piece is what attracted me in the first place, it’s out of the ordinary and creates a beautiful effect especially when paired so well with the green-ish blue tone used for the old tree. This “almost complementary” combination is the perfect choice to have an original artwork yet keeping it simple, pleasing and very much eye-catching. Great use of light in the background to complete the scene.
The second one is an amazing sneak peek on the “The autobiography of Benjamin Franklin” related piece she shared not a long ago. I guess drawing the newspapers upside down was natural in this circumstance, but even knowing that it still looks like a cool detail. Notice how the texture of the background (and not only) isn’t fully flat and this little thing changes the art by a lot, in my opinion. Beautiful illustration.
