Valerie Lin (@itsvalerielin) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Valerie is an artist based in Berlin where she studies finearts. Her style is very “calm”, you can see that on the IG feed where she posts images that sometimes include her desk. The colors she lives in, the way she prepares things, her dresses, everything. This is reflected in the artworks, in my opinion, so I love the connection between the artist and the art and I think it’s what genuinely pushes the works over the top.
There is also a pretty cool and delicate youtube channel you might be interested in (as always links below) and don’t forget to hunt the quick videos on IG cause they’re “professional quality” and feel amazing. Sneak peeks in Valerie’s routines are invaluable.
The first pic, oil on canvas, is just amazing. I love the naturalness of the image and the look that brings me back in the past a little bit. This piece was featured in one of those mini videos in which you can see all the steps, including preparation of the canvas which is a process I find fascinating and if you haven’t seen it yet it’s worth a look for sure. Obviously, no need to say it, adorable result.
The second oil is yet another fantastic painting, and for this one let me suggest the full youtube video she released not a long ago. I love it when I see fantastic artworks like this one, I get caught by the canvas and then I have the opportunity to dive deeper than “a pic” on IG. It looks very good, my favorite part is the light hitting the lady from the right and creating the shadows on her face. Love it.
What do you think about Valerie? Do you also love what’s going on here?
