Sweta Kaushik (@watercolor.consultant) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Sweta has a particular style of painting and I am fascinated by it. She can create beautiful pieces with few and precise brush strokes.
I very much like all the washes, the precision of the drawing behind and the palettes she choses. Lately she has been doing a boat series of which you’ll be seeing one piece here but they’re all so good I suggest you to take a look at her feed.
She was capable of doing very thin lines using a liner (a particular brush with long bristles) to create the ropes on the boat mast with a single and controlled stroke, it’s a little detail I feel shouldn’t go un-noticed. I also love the undefined city in the background forcing the focus on the boat.
The two examples of city paintings are different in style but they share a great result. The first one is less defined and the three-dimensionality is conveyed by just some shadows. The second one has a more precise and detailed drawing she made with ink, the colors were then added on top layer by layer.
What do you think about Sweta? Do you also love what’s going on here?
I’d like to discuss today’s talent with you in the comments below!
