Serif Karasu (@serifkarasu_) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Serif is a traditional artist who mainly posts comic style scenes drawn with pencil or pen. Many of the portraits show something a little “strange” in the sense that the figures are often sporting a diabolic trait, a demonlike smile, a provocative pose or facial expression or another evil trait like these. Let’s put it this way: the subjects like attention and they always find a way to get some.
There is little space for backgrounds or environments in his art cause most of the times the piece is just a head or a half body, they give to me the impression of being his “first thought”, something he creates right after having the idea, to put down in paper what he had in mind.
The first image is this vampirish girl who’s got the craziest mad eyes you can imagine. After looking at the teeth and her expression I’m scared, not in the sense she looks angry or dangerous, more like she could do something unexpected and borderline and she has the powers to do so successfully. Probably avoiding any efforts done to stop her.
The second pic I liked cause it shows the blackboard is just another space for Serif to express his art and the change of medium doesn’t affect the style or the awesome results. It’s not the only one he posted a few recently, if you like this kind of drawings you should go take a peek in his IG profile.
What do you think about Serif? Do you also love what’s going on here?

I’ve been following this artist for a long time, but when I looked for his account today @serifkarasu_ it says user not found! Do you have any idea what happened or where I can find his stuff? I just really miss his work.
Chiara Mazzetti
Hi Ruby! Some time ago he posted a story on Insta where he said he would have closed his account without giving the reasons. I used to look at his profile often so I feel you when you say you miss his works. Hope he’s doing ok!
