Sara Paz (@thiswhimsyme) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Sara is an illustrator from Portugal, she creates gorgeous female characters non stop ranging from princesses to demons, from warriors to mermaids and from magical-natural creatures to the common high school teenagers. Her style sports big eyes, characterizing noses and full lips all used to represent the inner nature and spirit of the woman really well.
Something I really love is the creativity and beauty she gives to hair styles, they’re always different, they help understand the personality of the subject, she fears no color and even makes hard and complex stylings, so cute!
Wow! The first image is a mermaid she started during “MerMay” season on IG and I have to say it really looks straight out of an animation movie. I can’t stop looking at her frinkles she’s adorable! As always the hair are wonderful, please take a second to appreciate the purple highlights there, and even the tufts dropping in front of her eyes are an amazing choice. I’m stunned.
The second picture combining a girl with flowers (look at the pattern on her body) is so good! I like her nose and the shape of her head, together they make her so sweet. On IG you’ll find the process video if you swipe the original post and it’s very interesting to see the transformation from a sketch to a beautiful illustration.

I love Sara’s work and it has inspired over a dozen short stories that I’ve written.
You are correct that her characters show so much emotion. And I also love the big hair. The thing that I love the most is the way she draws lips.

Wow Doug the inspiration you got from her for your short stories sounds really cool! Would you like to share something with me, her and all the other readers?
Hair and lips by the way are awesome too I know, simple shapes for a great effect!
