Sam (@teacup_art) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Sam is an artist based in Toronto who con work both traditionally and digitally (the latter being more prevalent, at least lately from what I can tell). Let’s start by saying her way of self describing as a tea-fueled human being stole a smile from me, I’m not addicted or anything but I also enjoy a cup or two to relax during the painting hours.
This blog series led me into diving deep into artist’ backgrounds whenever I can and I had the pleasure to discover Sam’s twitch channel this time around. Haven’t had the chance to catch her live yet but I’ll try in the future, in the meantime I did enjoy some of the vods. If you like a chill stream I highly suggest you to take a look and drop a follow!
The first piece is awesome, I like the unconventional super big nose but to be honest a few seconds after noticing it (how could you not) the focus shifted to the clothing. The white collar is amazing and the details on the fabric surprised me a lot. These kind of precise details are always so good to discover, it’s a pleasure to explore this illustration.
Second pic is more of a stylized one and I like the twist a lot, she even made a print available on inprint for this one. An illustration she started when she was livestreaming, so cool! Can you imagine having access to the process video of some of your favorite artists of the past? Our generation is setting the base for an awesome experience in the future, and you can enjoy it now maybe even live!
What do you think about Sam? Do you also love what’s going on here?
