Rodrigo Luff (@rodrigoluff) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Rodrigo is a traditional artist from Australia now based in Los Angeles. His art is primarily focused on painting beautiful women in what I would call a mystical environment, creating a wonderful scenario where nature and the human body work together in colors, shapes and forms.
Rodrigo’s attention for details and precise work are spectacular, I’ll say more in a bit about this, but for now I can suggest you to take a look at his IG and look for all the process videos he posts. I can’t stress this enough if you are given the chance to see the artist working, even if the clip is sped up sometimes, you should always take that chance and today is no exception. Awesome videos can be found in his profile!
The first piece is crazy good, the amount of material he shared regarding it is stunning starting from the photo he took of the model posing in the woods up to the sketch and the individual birds he found and included, straight to some video content. This quick tour should be enough to give you an idea of how much work there is behind an artwork, it’s the result of hours and hours of effort, and what a wonderful result it is!
The second image should lead you to discover and dive deep into “The Moleskine Project” he was a part of. I find the light reflex on the hair to be spectacular, the fur on the coat collar is also magnificent and super realistic. Overall and much like all the works from him I’ve had the pleasure to see this is an amazing painting.
What do you think about Rodrigo? Do you also love what’s going on here?
