Paola Panzeri (@lost_in_echo) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Paola is a freelance illustrator from Italy, she mainly does character designs and has her own way of representing people through slim and long legs, rounded faces and flat noses. They all quickly become recognizable and share the traits to build up a cohesive wall of pics on IG which is very nice to scroll through.
Her style on defining backgrounds is usually reliant on simple yet effective elements, completing the painting while staying on the same tones of the palette. Sometimes the subject does require a more sofisticated work or a contrasting level so there are examples of that too, but she mainly focuses on keeping a small and strict line of colors to make the whole art gain harmony. It’s always nice for me to see the spirit of the piece expressed through a main color.
“Best friend” is the title of the first artwork, they look sooo cuuute together! The “natural” saddle is wonderful and I love that she isn’t using the bridles but is holding herself with a hug instead. Take a look at the ground for a second, a couple of well placed traits to transform a plain color into a perfect undergrowth, lovely! Everything looks so good, even the sun in the back is fantastic.
What is the graceful and charming dragon-like creature behind the girl? She (I decided that’s a she, cause it’s too cute not to be!) is amazing I absoutely love the horns they’re fantastic. On IG there’s even a speed video of this piece if you like it. The glowing and shining background brightens up the scene and the creature very well, for an overall stunning art.
What do you think about Paola? Do you also love what’s going on here?
