Ohn Mar Win (@ohn_mar_win) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Ohn is an illustrator, designer, teacher and author based in Hertfordshire, England. I was always amazed since the first time I saw her works by the ability to draw and paint everyday life objects and food with a simple yet expressive and recognizable style. I sure like a lot every time she creates an artwork that showcases multiple similar items and that’s why I chose three “collections” for today’s post. If you like food, flowers, animals, packaging, landscapes, kitchen table items or sketchbooks you’ll definitely find her IG profile very inspiring!
The first image carries two common lines between all the items. The first one is easy and obvious: every object is related to coffee. The second one is subtle, but in the end as the author herself said it’s the reason why she loved painting this piece: reflective surfaces! Notice how cool the balance is between lights and colors through all the image. Amazing!
Now that the reflective surfaces love secret has been revealed the second picture makes a ton of sense! It’s a study on .. sardines? Suuuuper cool and original, I bet it’ll take you about a year to find a similar watercolor piece, and the best part is it’s actually a world tour of fish from different countries. Which one do you like the most? I love the red rounded one in the upper right corner.
What do you think about Ohn? Do you also love what’s going on here?
