Naveen Selvanathan (@naveen.selvan) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Naveen is a visual development artist from India now based in the US, he studied there and has now years of experience in the field. He’s definitely capable of illustrating with many styles and palettes but I have to say there’s one kind of art I like the most: when he uses a warm palette with occasional bright colors. The “tipical” combination of colors from Indian artists that I love so much, it has to be in their culture and I think Naveen has great sense for pairing the tones and creating beautiful scenes.
He paints fantastic animals on top of all that and it’s a thing I can’t just ignore since I love them all and in his art they find a perfect place.
The first pic of the baby angel statue has a very cool story he shared on IG, so basically near the elementary school there were abandoned houses and one had the statue of the angel with red eyes. No surprise the kids thought it was haunted, and I have to say looking at the image he really put that feeling into it, there seems to be something not quite all right with that statue, maybe there was really a ghost in there? Super cool vegetation and I love the gate in the goreground, puts you right into the action as if you were one of the kids watching.
The good fortune Ox looks amazing and this is one of the examples of the palettes I like a lot, I think the warm background gives you the perfect atmosphere and the ornaments and the patches that stand out thanks to their bright colors turn this into a fantastic artwork. Me and the good fortune Ox we both wish you all good luck in this new year!
