Marco is a teacher, concept artist and illustrator with a ton of experience in multiple areas, starting from the 2D world right into the 3D one. If you’re going to be spending 5 minutes I suggest you to use them in his YouTube channel (link below), he’s been there since 2008 and I don’t need to tell you the amount of content available and the quality are top notch. Those would be your 5 minutes that carry over for an hour or so, till you tell yourself you’ll be back when you have more time! That is my kind of experience with it, so if you know you’re like me dont get baited, they’re definitely not 5 minutes… but whatever the amount, they’re super worth it! So I still suggest you to check the channel out, Marco is very good at explaining things.
The first piece is coming from his latest video where he explains how to create a painting on layers. I love the result, I think the shadows are very well done and the painting style matches exactly my idea of “how to paint good”. On IG he shared a couple of instructive steps and if you like them you know there’s a full video on it!
Second image is a page of the sketchbook from his trip to the Bahamas and it’s fantastic! This style of taking notes to the side, the paintings blurring out.. the colors honestly are also super nice, it’s really just a wonderful page, I’d love to have one of these for all of my trips, they would make for a perfect artwork to remember the best places.
