Kristina Granberg (@granberg_art) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Kristina is an artist and illustrator based in Sweden. She likes to use watercolors, graphite and ink to give life to some of the most beautiful animal paintings I’ve ever seen. In her posts you’ll clearly see the insane drawing abilities she has, and this is before we even get to the coloring part. I’m talking straight up drawing an animal with a simple pencil, the base figures she obtains to start putting watercolors on are just crazy good. When it comes to colors then she often uses semi-transparent tones closing her paintings with a sense of naturalness and lightness.
The first image is so nice for a bunch of reasons: first of all the cat showing up is exactly what my Lapis does with me and it’s super cute. The composition of this pic is great with the shells on top resembling the pink tone used in the artwork. And did I mention it’s the first time I actually get to see and envision a couple of butterfly-seahorses? They are so delicate, I love them!
The second image is a wonderful idea, she combined Magnolias with a black panther for an awesome result. Zoom in the pic to see how she handled the light touching the animal, a very cool effect, and while you’re at it take a look at all the little details hidden in this piece, starting from the whiskers.
What do you think about Kristina? Do you also love what’s going on here?
