Kasiq Jungwoo (@kasiqjungwoo) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Kasiq is a fashion and advertising illustrator from Seoul. His IG feed is full of portraits and that’s no surprise since he likes to represent people and their inner wolrd through their faces. Every time I see someone painted by him I feel a lot of emotions coming from the artwork. He really shines in capturing someone’s spirit and being able to paint it so clearly that it’s there on the paper.
If you scroll through his pieces you’ll quickly realize he masters the human body and its shapes, easily moving around the subject in the perfect pose he needs to give you the best paintings.
The first image is a masterpiece, there’s so much to unflod here. First of all working with a limited palette is always a difficult task, you rely on lights, shadows and opacities. If you look at the right arm of the woman you can see how little he needed to paint it all. Her body and the movement then, he was able to capture the sensuality. Lastly the face, divided by the shadow, so expressive and realistic. Gorgeous art!
The second image is best viewed zoomed in (click the pic) because the texture he created on the coat is absolutely amazing. It almost looks glossy and polished. There’s so many little details in it that it’s really too easy to pass a few minutes trying to grasp all the elements. Superb.
What do you think about Kasiq? Do you also love what’s going on here?
