Karo is an illustrator based in Munich, Germany. She likes to paint portraits in many many styles, it’s stunning how she moves from a toonish style to a realistic one, passing through multiple shades in the process.
Of all the styles I like a lot the one in which she paints (digitally) one or more characters using bright plain colors and defined shapes, focusing on the 2D aspect of the artwork. She creates beautiful scenes and the simple lines make them so enjoyable, I picture all of those as great prints, they’re wonderful and very colorful, I think they could surely bring a lot to a room!
The first piece is a redraw of an old artwork of her. To be fair I’m gonna say you have to go take a look at the old piece cause this is definitely not one of those usual redraws, she took an amazing piece and made it wonderful once again! They’re different, just the same characters on the canvas in two different fashions, but ultimately super enjoyable in both versions.
The second artwork deserves to be on the spotlight cause I mean, look at that color choice! Isn’t it beautiful to match the red skin with those white hair, and complete it all with a green suit that pairs with the lips and the eyes.. Love it, love the tattoo also, and the other lady is wearing beautiful shorts.. Awesome illustration, simply very clean and good looking.
