June Digan (@junedigann) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
June is an illustrator and designer based in Manila, Philippines. She works with both digital and traditional medium and always creates cuteness on top of art. Yeah I found out when I watch her profile I’m there thinking “awww that’s sooo cute!” so many times that I can’t speak of her without expressing this feeling.
She has a way of designing things and characters, she colors them with delicate palettes, I don’t know it’s just overall her artworks are relaxing and calming. When she embraces a color and makes a few artworks in a row I feel like she’s able to drive me in a specific direction and mood. Oh, and if you like lettering you’ll find some gorgeous ones on IG so definitely check that out!
The first piece (she’s using two pages of a sketchbook in vertical orientation to get this very tall space, nice!) is really cool, it looks like she’s opening gifts at home and I love the smile! The houses in the woods are very nice, they give me this mixed feeling of warmth for the orange color dominance paired with the cold blue and violet of the night.
Speaking of mixed feelings, her second picture here is matching a village with a noodles bowl! This sure hits me as a wonderful and magical sensation, there has to be a cool story in the background, what’s a world doing in someone’s dinner? Once again the same color pair I liked a lot, creating a soft environment with good contrast. I also like the idea of drawing the trees like that, it’s very simple and super effective!
What do you think about June? Do you also love what’s going on here?
