Jackie Droujko (@jackiedroujko) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Jackie is a character designer based in Vancouver, Canada. She works and worked in the animation industry for some of the most famous and prestigious names like Netflix, Dreamworks, Warner Bros and more. I usually try to avoid placing here “big names” cause I don’t think those are necessarily the only steps one can make to show the world its own abilities and how great she/he is. But I mean, you’re gonna see some pretty amazing stuff here and on her profile so the names are actually sounding to me just like a plus, the cherry on the cake for an artist that didn’t need them to shine. So if you see one of her works and think “Wow! This one is high level, it could be on the big screen!” you’re probably just right.
The first image is obviously Akali of the K/DA, beautiful artwork! She is Jackie’s favorite from the “not so virtual” group. For those who don’t know know them, the K/DA, they are characters coming from a videogame (League of Legends) partnered with real word artists who give them voices to create an all female music band that’s having a lot of success lately (well probably since their first appearance in late 2018 actually). I saw the video and the pic here is stunningly good, every detail matches. I like the neon rims and the gorgeous reflection on the ground most. Fun fact: those in the background are Evelynn’s eyes! (Another character from the group)
The second pic deserves a zoom in and honestly that might not even be good enough, like Jackie said on the caption she would love you to see all the details she worked on while painting this one. I tried to zoom in as much as I could and I am ready to bet she spent hours and hours on this one, just to tell you something even the little pic in the frame standing on the bookcase in the background got her attention. And even discounting the details, the whole painting looks fantastic and the lighting coming from the back is absolutely amazing. What a piece.
What do you think about Jackie? Do you also love what’s going on here?
I’d like to discuss today’s talent with you in the comments below!
