Igor Dubovoy (@dubovoy_artist) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Igor is an artist from Moscow, Russia. He paints with watercolors and oil and his works are hands down some of the most beautiful and realistic representations I’ve ever come across. The level of precision he puts in the paintings is insane, with a special mention for all the water related areas (you’ll see why in a second).
If you think you’re looking at some photographs check twice cause they’re actually hand drawn pieces. One of the difficulties is for sure to find the perfect colors: part of the effect of looking like reality is also on the colors themselves. It’s hard to trick a human brain, but watching at something you would expect to look exactly like it has been painted is surely an important part to succeed.
In the first painting, “Spring”, there are so many details I’d love you not to miss that it’s even hard to pick one to become the first of the list. Shadows and lights are probably a good choice, including and especially the spots where the sun rays hit the snow or the water, simply supreme. The shadow of the tree in the river is a nice bonus, it adds so much to the whole painting. Then look at the snow, the water changing color in the background , the little trees, the stones.. I mean everything here deserves to be noticed.
In the second image there is a water masterpiece. The texture on the cobblestones is amazing, and transitioning some of them underwater with such wonderful reflections steps up this painting to a whole new level. The light’s reflection on the right side is just a final touch and that’s saying a lot. I’m truly impressed!
