Flor De Jager (@_chetom) is my pick for today’s talent!

Flor is an illustrator and concept artist with a passion for character design and she joins tons of “dtiys”. “Draw this in your style” is the kind of challenge I imagine you’re already familiar with if you’re browsing artist’ profiles on instagram. There are pros and cons, but I feel like she is very good at hiding the cons of this practice and highlighting all the pros.

So among the pros I would say you can stay active, fresh and find inspiration very easily, you also get to see other people’s take on the original artwork and that might push you into giving the best to show everybody your point of view, what you’ve got. The cons are that sometimes you can’t just avoid that detail you don’t feel like doing, cause it’s there already, but since every dtiys from Flor I see is gorgeous I guess she never finds that to be a problem, or she takes it as a challenge and always comes out with a beautiful version. Cool and impressive!

Her art vs artist image is so beautiful! Every face in there is full of character and expressive, she really nailed it. I absolutely love Mulan down there I think she gave her the real “soul” she deserves, perfectly in line with the idea you get of her after watching the movie, a strong and determined woman. I also recognize the pose from the reference I like it a lot!

The second image is lovely! The girl is too cute I think the hair and the eyes are so beautiful they almost single handedly tell a story about the character. The curves and the shapes in the artwork feel so harmonious, and the palette she went with fits perfectly, she definitely got the perfect tone for the background in my opinion. Wonderful illustration.
