Eva (@evayabai) is my pick for today’s talent!

Eva is an art director, illustrator and character designer based in Germany who works wonderfully both with digital and traditional mediums. Her style is “toonish” and really super enjoyable cause it transforms every little girl or woman (it’s her favorite subject) into a funny and adorable character. Eva’s way of coloring in digital is so nice, I appreciate the brightness of the colors and the wide palettes she uses.
On top of that I think the shadows are always on point whether they’re the defined and strong ones or the soft and diffused ones. Another thing I love about her artworks is the decise way she has of drawing lines, many times that makes a big difference and I’d like to learn to do it a bit more!
The first piece is just amazing it’s packed full with great content and I can’t even start to break down all the goodies I see. So there’s a wonderful girl, she’s listening to music and drinking coffee, she’s surrounded by plants, there’s a loooovely cat and we’re discounting the butterfly, them all being in a jar and the couch she’s sitting on. To be fair every single piece I mentioned looks fantastic and Eva put many of her passions in this piece which happen to match mines pretty accurately, so I like it even more!
The second pic is one in which many of the traits I like about her come up like the strong lineart, the bright colors, the wide palette, the funny character.. also the shadows (look under the legs! so good). In this one in particular I find the gradient on the hair to be stunning, it’s what makes her feel like a true magical creature together with the horns, a great choice! Did you see the sandals by the way? Their eastern style and feeling makes them sooo cute!
