Emilie is a concept artist with an incredible talent on environment focused artworks. It’s no surprise she worked in animation and games cause all her masterpieces really give me that idea of being in a wonderful fantasy world.
The art requires a lot of work since the modern look of video games tends to go in the direction of “every single bit has to be crisp and perfect”. On top of that the colors she uses are fenomenal, I think they play a big role and you’ll see why in a second, there’s an example coming our way that will help me explain what I mean.
The first piece is “Tribal Venezia”, a very interesting concept on a city I like a lot. The idea of transforming what’s there now into the environment I see in the canvas is exciting, if anything the colors and all this nature make me happy and give the impression of a good, peaceful and clean world. Amazing colors and very cool “non traditional” shapes for the buildings, love it!
Second image is where I can talk about the sketches and the colors. First of all you’ll notice how deeply detailed her visions are to become those amazing illustrations in the end. Then compare this fantastic drawing with a finished digital work and tell me you don’t see the magic. It’s day and night for me and it drives me crazy cause the starting point is so good I can’t realize how it is able to pick up so much more on top! I’m still stunned and probably will always be.
