Eleanor Mill (@melibertine) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Eleanor is an artist from Russia, and I can’t think of her without the word “precision” passing through my mind. If you look at her feed and start opening random drawings or paintings to look for details you’ll find an ocean to get lost into. Whether it’s colored or left in graphite every piece sports an insane amount of lines and they’re all simply gorgeous, some might even look photos.
This one really is the case in which I’ll show you a couple of pictures just to let you know what we’re talking about, and then if you like what you see you really have to go take a look at all her posts to be able to swipe the main pictures and see all the zoom-in detailed photos she puts together with the finished art. It’s not common to see such dedication both in paintings and in social media, and I can also ensure you both need lots of time to be taken care of. When I see such a passion I am always amazed.
The first image is a painting of Aachen, Germany, it’s pretty big (50x70cm or 20x28in) and this leaves her the space to really get down to little details. If you look carefully the gothic windows are made with a pattern that she first drew and then painted, and it’s not something you can do all at once. Se had to represent light and shadow hitting the glass, so she painted every single little piece of the window. A quick count tells me there’s more than a thousand in the whole piece. It’s not just a work of precision and perfection tho, it also has to look good in the end! To no surprise, the artwork is beautiful.
