Ana Rodríguez (@avvou) is my pick for today’s talent!

Ana is a freelance digital illustrator based in Spain, she creates lots of characters and defines herself obsessed with “otherworldly characters, mythology, fashion, books, languages and animation”. That’s a lot of things! To be fair the only one that slightly stands out if you watch her IG profile is the characters from other worlds which I always happen to find very beautiful illustrations.
Most of them aren’t even that distant from the usual human form cause she’s delicate and touches the ears a little, or some other small detail to let you know there is something strange but not too much. All of it is super likable and never “too strong” for me, I appreciate the variety and all the emotions she conveys through her creations.
The first painting is fantastic! This is her version from a “draw this in your style” kinda challenge and it’s stunning good. I can feel the connection between the two women, she was able to bring up that “touch” that clearly isn’t just casual. The colors work perfectly and even if at first glance you do get that feeling of “there’s the good and the evil” here cause of the light and the darkness I think she drew the faces so well that it takes very little time to realize there’s only positive vibes here.
Second pic is a book cover she realized for her bachelor project “Sombras” and it’s soooo delicate! The girl is actually merging with the shadows cause that’s part of the short story but if you want to know a bit more Ana shared a cool caption on IG talking about that, the hair and the pose. A wonderful piece! And let me tell you how much I love those earrings! I think they are spectacular they bring that little light spot exactly where it’s needed.
