Qi Zhan (@zhanqi_illustrator) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Qi is a Chinese freelance illustrator now based in Toronto. She started her art journey pretty late, exactly like me, but went on a great path cause she got crazy good so quickly! She mainly works with watercolors, a medium she likes, and focuses on cute and colorful illustrations for kids. If I may suggest I think you should take a look at the links below and watch her YouTube channel, it’s full of awesome videos.
This series was long and hard to keep up with but I’m happy I got to know many artists a little bit more thanks to it. My passion for art is greater than ever and I think getting to discover amazing talents like Qi day after day brought me great joy. I hope you’ll feel the same today if you’re reading this last one!
The two paintings are just adorable, her style is fantastic and especially so if you think the artworks are tailored towards a young public. There are a lot of rounded shapes, beautiful colors, the environment is always friendly and the cheeks she paints are soooo nice! That’s a trait you’ll find pretty much everywhere in her artworks and one I think I’ll remember for a long time. The teeth too are very “Qi” style and I love them. Bonus points if, like in the first one here, you get to see a few animals: you can’t do anything but fall in love with them. Super cute paintings.
What do you think about Qi? Do you also love what’s going on here?
I’d like to discuss today’s talent with you in the comments below!

We did it! This was the last episode, I really hope many of you got inspired by the series. Many artists were highlighted and I think diving into their background a bit was awesome and worth it, if you liked the posts it’s exactly what you should be doing in the future: behind a great artwork there is always a great artist!
