Jean Gueissaz (@jguess_art) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Jean is a freelance illustrator and a true master of landscapes, cityscapes or environment in general. He paints digitally and is always able to pull off energetic paintings with lots of colors and a wonderful use of lights and shadows. I love how in most of his works the brush strokes are clearly visible if you pay attention to them, but absolutely hidden when you look at the piece as a whole. This means he achieved the perfect balance that convinces your eyes that something is a unique piece, a flat surface, but he didn’t do so through a real digitally flattened out color, he still worked through little pieces that are then keeping said surface interesting and giving it a texture. I hope what I wanted to say isn’t a big mess, anyways, the results are fenomenal so I’m sure you’ll appreciate looking at Jean’s art.

I love the first image in so many ways.. First of all the perspective and the choice of representing the mountain from this particular point of view, enhancing the angle and creating a non-conventional break is amazing. Then I have to look at those clouds which are gorgeous, the light touching the crest is perfect and in the foreground the person surrounded by a sea of flowers that wane calmly going forward.. All of those traits are amazing.

The second pic is a clear example of what I was saying earlier, zoom in and take a look at the tree trunk, or perhaps at the weed and the moss living on the wet rocks. The lines are there but you wouldn’t notice until you actually focus on them. This makes it so that the surface looks irregular and realistic, creates little games of lights and shadows, natural color variations and all that. It’s impressive stuff, I like it a lot!
