Taraneh Karimi (@taraneh.artworks) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Taraneh is a Persian art director based in the Netherlands, she paints lots of characters and flawlessly changes style every now and then. The main subjects are of course human figures, mostly female characters, but there’s room for everything. She doesn’t shy away from difficult or different poses, making every detail she can to characterize the faces and the expressions.
Very often I find process videos or mini clips (sometimes hidden in the second pic so you have to look at an artwork and swiping you might find a great surprise!) and I think they’re cool to watch. There are also some black and white illusrations giving the feeling of a sketchbook so if you like a varied feed take a look cause you’re going to find something surprising for sure.
The first image is so amazing! First of all if you only look at the rain, the background and the leaves forgetting about the girl it might almost be a photo, so that speaks loud about the quality of the illustration. The girl then is adorable, I love how she hung the shoes and the socks to dry waiting with a hot drink, plus she has cool hair.
The ballerinas look great I love the fluffy style their dresses have and the fact that simple lines created such a beautiful scene, if you look closely the legs and the arms just took her a couple of shapes but they’re fantastic so I like it, she worked on the faces and the dresses more getting a nice group. The light coming from a side and creating shadows on the figures and the ground is also a nice touch, lovely!
What do you think about Taraneh? Do you also love what’s going on here?
