Helen Bucher (@helenbucher) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Helen is an illustrator from Switzerland and let me start this episode by saying every creation of her, literally every single one is adorable. She makes lots of characters but also all kind of things really. Something you would notice on her profile is she focuses on real world items quite a bit making postcards, stickers, prints, magnets, pins, patches, washi tapes and so on.. I think it’s really cool if you like her style to be able to get her art on something you use or want to expose, or maybe even donate. You will notice small mouths and big cheeks all over which I think is a trait that not only distinguishes her pieces but also helps all the faces look sweet (and you’ll want to squeeze them all!)
The first image is a tribute to her favorite dancing violinst Lindsey! I’ve had the occasion to see videos of her dancing and playing the violin and I must say the illustration really really makes her justice. Helen did a great job this artwork is perfect you don’t even need to read the caption… as soon as I saw it I knew it was her, she was able to capture her movements so well. I especially love the lights here!
The second picture is fantastic she was able to represent the japanese woman with the shamisen in such a great way. Once again look at those big cheeks and tell they don’t make the whole thing so pretty. The colors are awesome and the best part of it all are for sure the textures she put on the kimono, high level details right there, wonderful!
What do you think about Helen? Do you also love what’s going on here?
