Kyria Smith (@wolfandbear.co) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Kyria (the Wolf) is an artist based in Michigan, she loves nature and works with her partner (the Bear) to create stunning art, that’s why wolfandbear is their handle. The passion for animals and plants or nature in general drives most of the drawings and paintings you can see on the profile, but sometimes what they call a “nerdy” thing pops up, so if you’re a fantasy or sci-fi lover go take a look!
The beauty of the artworks is remarkable, the drawings are always on point very precise and super detailed and the colors most of the times only cover the accents or some particular parts of the image. This style creates a great contrast and always looks amazing, it lets the real protagonists come out so easily.
The first piece of the black and white tiger is so cool! The animal hides in the foliage extremely well, and I think it’s special because it makes me think about the great talent predators have to surprise the prey. This artwork is exactly what the worst that could happen to you walking in the jungle would look like, a ferocious tiger camouflaged ready to attack. Of course this great representation is only possible because of the crazy and meticulous work behind.
The second image, the red panda, I would define in one word saying “cute”. Come on it’s calling for cuddles! The animal is so lovely that it’s easy to miss some of the great details of the piece: look at the use of gold in this particular painting, it’s not too much and not too little, just about right to make the difference without stealing the attention from the subject. Another thing I like a lot is the transition of color of the fur, very well done!
What do you think about Kyria? Do you also love what’s going on here?
